Tim Bazalgette was a research assistant on the project, who completed a 2015 PhD under the title "Algorithmic Acquisition of Focus Parameters." This thesis formalises the generation of ReCoS hierarchies, proposing an algorithm for emergent parameter setting. This algorithm is combined with a unified approach to the encoding of focus expression, leading to an explicit account of focus parameterisation in fragment grammars of ASL, LSB, BSL, Nepali, and English.
